SINGAPORE, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Chie Arimura, fueled by a fifth-hole eagle, shot a 6-under-par 66 Friday and has a two-stroke lead halfway through the LPGA's HSBC Women's Champions tournament.
Arimura had bogeys on two or her first three holes but still ended up with one of the best rounds of the day in getting to 10-under 134 after 36 holes in the event in Singapore.
Karrie Webb, who also had an eagle, matched Arimura's 66 and is in second place at 8-under.
Yoo Sun-young had a 4-under 68 and is alone in third place at 6-under 138. Choi Na-Yeon (71) and Karen Stupples (70) are tied for fourth at 4-under.
Arimura started erratically, posting bogeys on Nos. 1 and 3 and a birdie at the second hole.
"I would not say I was nervous but my body was telling me something was wrong," Arimura said. "I told myself I needed to focus and get my rhythm back so my body could cooperate. It got better gradually and I started to enjoy the round more."
That was the case at the fifth hole, where Arimura had an eagle. She pushed her score to 3-under with birdies at the eighth and ninth holes and built her lead on the backs of three birdies over Nos. 13-16.
