NBA: Chicago 93, Miami 89

CHICAGO, Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Luol Deng broke a tie by hitting a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to play Thursday, lifting Chicago to a 93-89 victory over Miami.

In a game featuring playoff-like intensity, Chicago rallied from an 11-point deficit in the third period and owned a seven-point lead with 7 minutes to go.

Miami's LeBron James converted a 3-point play, however, to boost the Heat into an 89-89 deadlock with 37 seconds left.

That set up the key shot by Deng, who made 7-of-12 from the field, scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

James then missed a 3-point attempt and Kyle Korver converted 1-of-2 free throws for Chicago with 9 seconds remaining.

Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 26 points and he drew a double-team from James and Dwyane Wade before passing to Deng for the critical 3-pointer.

Chicago won for the fifth time in six games and has captured eight in a row at home. The Bulls held Miami to 40 percent shooting and the Heat hit only 2-of-12 from 3-point range. Miami had won three in a row.

Wade led the Heat with 34 points and James had 29. Chris Bosh made just 1-of-18 shots from the field while scoring only seven points.
