Pacers' Dunleavy out with broken thumb

INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- The Indiana Pacers have lost swingman Mike Dunleavy indefinitely with a broken left thumb, the team said Wednesday.

The forward/guard was hurt Tuesday during the Pacers' victory over the Washington Wizards.

The team said Dunleavy will meet with doctors Thursday, meaning he would definitely miss Indiana's Wednesday contest against Detroit.

Dunleavy, whose contract expires at the end of the year, had appeared in all but one of the Pacers' 55 games this season, averaging 11.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

He was thought to be trade bait heading into Thursday's NBA trade deadline because of his pending free agency, but this thumb injury has placed a damper on any hopes the Pacers might have had in dealing him.
