ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored a highlight-reel goal and added a pair of assists Tuesday in the Minnesota Wild's 4-1 victory over Edmonton.
The Wild found the net three times in the third period to break open a 1-1 contest and cruise to their 15th straight home win over Edmonton.
Bouchard capped the scoring outburst by taking a pass from Cal Clutterbuck and breaking in alone on Oilers netminder Nikolai Khabibulin. Just before reaching the net, he stopped, did a 360-degree spin and shot the puck behind the startled goalie.
Martin Havlat and Kyle Brodziak also scored and Jared Spurgeon added his first NHL goal for Minnesota, which jumped into the fifth position in the tight Western Conference playoff race.
Niklas Backstrom turned aside 20-of-21 shots and improved to 20-13-4 with the victory.
Kurtis Foster scored and Khabibulin made 19 saves in the Oilers' loss.
