NHL: Toronto 2, New York Islanders 1

TORONTO, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Phil Kessel scored the go-ahead goal with less than 5 minutes to go in the game Tuesday and the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the New York Islanders 2-1.

Kessel's wrist shot as time was winding down eluded Al Montoya to break a 1-1 tie and James Reimer stopped 28-of-29 shots for the Leafs, who improved to 7-2-2 in February.

Reimer boosted his season's record to 9-4-2 and blanked the Islanders on five power-play opportunities en route to the victory.

Clark MacArthur added a first-period goal for Toronto.

Matt Moulson continued his hot streak, scoring his sixth goal in three games, and Montoya ended up making 23 saves for the Islanders.
