Cardinals co-owner 'Drew' Baur dies at 66

ST. LOUIS, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- St. Louis Cardinals co-owner Andrew N. "Drew" Baur has died at age 66, the team said Sunday.

Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. noted the passing of Baur -- part of the ownership group that bought the Cardinals from Anheuser-Busch in 1996.

"We have lost a wonderful friend and we are deeply saddened by his sudden passing," DeWitt said. "Drew loved the Cardinals and was a great partner. He will be sorely missed by all of the members of our ownership group."

Baur served as the team's treasurer.

The St. Louis banker is survived by three children and seven grandchildren, the Cardinals said.
