Almagro aces Argentina in 2nd straight win

BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Nicolas Almagro won his second title in two weeks Sunday, following up last week's Brazil Open victory with a three-set finals triumph at the Copa Claro.

The top-seeded Almagro stayed red hot, getting past Argentine home crowd favorite Juan Ignacio Chela 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to earn the Buenos Aires title.

It built on a fast start to 2011 for the Spaniard, who won his ninth career title. During the hot streak he has won 14 of 16 matches and has also made the Round of 16 at the Australian Open.

Almagro, ranked 13th in the world, won 72 percent of his first-serve points and saved seven break points en route to his latest win.

He had also had downed Chela in the semifinals of last week's Brazil Open.

Chela, meanwhile, fell to 2-5 against Almagro.
