NHL: Detroit 4, Florida 3

SUNRISE, Fla., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Todd Bertuzzi's second goal broke a third-period tie Friday and lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-3 victory over Florida.

The Red Wings have won four in a row to climb eight points in front of second-place Nashville in the Central Division.

Detroit held a 3-1 lead as time was winding down in the second period, but Dennis Wideman scored for the Panthers with 17 seconds left in the stanza and Stephen Weiss tied it on a slap slot midway through the third.

Bertuzzi then scored on his own slap shot to give him 14 goals for the season. He also opened the scoring just 81 seconds into the game.

Florida ended a five-game homestand with a 1-3-1 record.

Joey MacDonald collected the win with 29 saves.

Tomas Vokoun gave up all four Detroit goals on 30 shots.
