Roddick advances to Memphis second round

MEMPHIS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Top-seed Andy Roddick bounced back to beat Richard Berankis of Lithuania 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 Tuesday at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.

Roddick scored a critical break point in the third set with his 21st of 23 aces in the first-round match and held Berankis at love in the final game.

The match was Roddick's first competition since his fourth-round exit at the Australian Open.

Defending champion Sam Querrey advanced Tuesday with his first match win of the 2011 season. Querrey, the No. 5 seed, topped Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-4.

Mardy Fish and James Blake of the United States advanced in straight sets -- Fish dropping Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia and Blake eliminating Brazil's Ricardo Mello.
