NBA: Los Angeles Clippers 98, Minnesota 90

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Blake Griffin won a battle of two of the NBA's top young stars Wednesday and carried the Los Angeles Clippers to a 98-90 win over Minnesota.

Griffin and Minnesota's Kevin Love lead the league in double-doubles this season and only Love had one Wednesday. Griffin, however, scored 29 points while making 12-of-20 shots from the field in the first win in four games for the Clippers.

Los Angeles had a 10-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and led by as many as 13 in the period.

Love produced his team-record 42nd consecutive double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Love has 51 such performances for the season and Griffin has 46.

Randy Foye added 21 points and six assists for Los Angeles, which is 2-6 on its 11-game road trip that will be interrupted by the All-Star break.

Wayne Ellington scored 18 points in a reserve role for the Timberwolves. Minnesota has lost four in a row and 13 out of 16.
