WASHINGTON, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Andrei Loktionov's tally triggered a three-goal outburst in the third period and the Los Angeles Kings upended Washington 4-1 Saturday.
Loktionov knocked in the rebound of a shot by Kyle Clifford less than 4 minutes into the final frame, opening the door for a big period that saw Los Angeles add goals by Michal Handzus and Jarret Stoll.
Handzus added an assist and Wayne Simmonds chipped in with a pair of helpers for the Kings, who improved to 3-0-2 on their 10-game road trip.
Jonathan Bernier stopped 22 shot for the victors.
The Caps, who lost their fifth in seven games, got their only marker from Alex Ovechkin.
Semyon Varlamov turned aside 24-of-28 shots for Washington.
