NHL: Atlanta 3, N.Y. Rangers 2

ATLANTA, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Evander Kane scored the tying and winning goals in a span of 3:31 of the third period Friday, boosting Atlanta to a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers.

Atlanta had won just once in its eight previous games, but the two points they picked up against the Rangers moved the Thrashers in front of idle Carolina for the eighth and final playoff position in the Eastern Conference. New York has lost six straight.
