COL BKB: Notre Dame 89, Louisville 79 (OT)

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Carleton Scott scored nine of his 16 points in overtime Wednesday in boosting No. 7 Notre Dame to an 89-79 victory over 15th-ranked Louisville.

The Fighting Irish survived a flurry of Louisville attempts late in regulation and then scored the first 14 points of the extra period to hand the Cardinals their first home loss of the season.

This is the earliest in a campaign Notre Dame has ever reached 20 wins.

Ben Hansbrough led the Irish with 25 points despite playing in foul trouble for much of the game. Tim Abromaitis had 23 points for Notre Dame (20-4, 9-3 Big East Conference), which has won six in a row.

There were 13 ties and 10 lead changes in the second half, the final points of which came when Notre Dame's Tyrone Nash hit two free throws with 1:02 remaining. Preston Knowles missed two 3-pointers down the stretch for Louisville.

Kyle Kuric had 28 points to lead the Cardinals (18-6, 7-4), who had won three of their previous four games.
