NFL offers free tix in Super Bowl foul-up

NEW YORK, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- The NFL Tuesday offered free trips to future Super Bowls for hundreds of fans who didn't get a seat at this year's event in Texas despite buying tickets.

About 400 fans who purchased tickets for Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, weren't seated due to problems encountered with the installation of temporary seating, causing much bad publicity and sparking threats of a lawsuit.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell offered a choice to the affected fans Tuesday.

They could either receive a transferable ticket to next year's Super Bowl in Indianapolis plus a cash payment of $2,400, or they could accept a non-transferable free ticket to any future Super Bowl plus round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations provided by the NFL.

"We are ultimately responsible for the fan experience and we want it to be the best it can possibly be," Goodell said, adding that he has "initiated a complete review of the matter, including all seating and stadium entrance issues, to determine where the breakdowns occurred."
