NHL: Carolina 4, Atlanta 3 (OT)

RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Erik Cole found the net in overtime Saturday and the Carolina Hurricanes snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 decision over Atlanta.

Cole's tally with 2:12 remaining in the extra frame made a winner of Cam Ward, who stopped 34 shots for the Hurricanes.

Jiri Tlusty added a goal and an assist, and Eric Staal and Brandon Sutter also scored for Carolina.

The Thrashers lost for the sixth time in seven games despite getting goals from Zach Bogosian, Brent Sopel and Niclas Bergfors.

Ondrej Pavelec made 31 saves for Atlanta.
