NHL: Buffalo 6, Toronto 2

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Drew Stafford scored twice and assisted on a third Saturday, fueling the Buffalo Sabres' 6-2 spanking of Toronto.

Stafford's first-period goal gave the Sabres a 2-0 lead. His second tally late in the middle frame extended the margin to 5-1, helping Buffalo post its seventh straight home win over Toronto.

Thomas Vanek added a goal and two assists and Ryan Miller turned aside 23-of-25 shots, boosting the Sabres to their third win in four games.

The Maple Leafs pulled rookie goalie James Reimer after he let in five goals on 30 shots. Jean-Sebastien Giguere came in and made 12 saves the rest of the way.

Toronto got markers from Francois Beauchemin and Nikolai Kulemin.
