PITTSBURGH, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Marc-Andre Fleury blanked Buffalo over the final two periods Friday and the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied from a two-goal deficit to down the Sabres 3-2.
Paul Gaustad scored 17 seconds into the game and Mike Grier added a goal on a wraparound shot to give Buffalo a 2-0 lead after one period.
Fleury then kept the Sabres off the board for the remainder of the contest while the Penguins were coming from behind to win their fifth straight game and their seventh out of eight.
Pittsburgh did all its scoring in the second period, getting goals from Dustin Jeffrey, Tyler Kennedy and Matt Cooke in a span of 3:14 early in the stanza. The Penguins climbed within one point of Philadelphia for the lead in the Atlantic Division.
Fleury made 27 saves while Ryan Miller took the loss by allowing three goals on 39 shots. Buffalo had won four of its previous five.
Pittsburgh has won all three meetings with Buffalo this year.
