NHL: San Jose 4, Anaheim 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Dany Heatley scored 14 seconds into San Jose's three-goal first period Wednesday and the Sharks held on to defeat Anaheim 4-3.

Ben Eager and Jason Demers added goals during the first 11 minutes to give San Jose a 3-0 lead after one period, but the game-winner came from Ryane Clowe on the power play with 4:21 to go in the second.

Clowe's goal, his 14th of the season, gave the Sharks a 4-1 lead and they had to fight off the Ducks after Cam Fowler and Bobby Ryan scored for Anaheim to make it a one-goal game.

San Jose began a seven-game road trip with its sixth win in seven contests. Antti Niemi picked up the win with 27 saves.

Jonas Hiller gave up three goals on 10 shots before he was replaced by Curtis McElhinney, who made 17 saves.
