COL BKB: Utah State 89, Hawaii 84 (2OT)

HONOLULU, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Brian Green hit four free throws in the final 6 seconds of the second overtime session Saturday night to ice No. 25 Utah State's 89-84 win over Hawaii.

Green finished the night with 22 points for the Aggies, (20-2, WAC 9-0). Tyler Newbold added 21 and Tai Wesley had 12.

Hawaii, (12-9, 3-6) got 21 apiece from Zane Johnson and Bill Amis, along with 20 from Jeremiah Ostrowski, who had pulled Hawaii to within 85-84 with two free throws with 8 seconds left just after Brockeith Pane had made it 85-82 USU with a pair of free throws of his own.

Utah State had led 33-27 at halftime but the Rainbow Warriors refused to fade and it took a Green hit a jumper to tie the score at 66-66 with :38 left. Amis then missed a shot with 6 seconds remaining and the game went into overtime.

The two teams went 2:38 seconds into the first extra session without scoring before Zane Johnson hit a 3-pointer.

Later, two Ostrowski free throws put Hawaii up by 73-70, but Green hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to tie it at 73-73 and Ostrowski missed a trey with 7 seconds left, sending the game into the second extra session.

Hawaii shot just 67 percent from the free-throw line in regulation, compared with Utah State's 86 percent proficiency.

Both teams shot 44 percent from the field during regulation and both were more accurate from long range. Hawaii hit 6-of-11 (55 percent) from 3-point range and USU managed 8-of-17 (47 percent).
