NBA: Sacramento 100, Los Angeles Lakers 95

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- DeMarcus Cousins helped Sacramento dominate the middle two quarters Friday and the Kings held on for an unlikely 100-95 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Sacramento went scoreless for almost 5 minutes of the fourth period and faced a 38-point performance from the Lakers' Kobe Bryant, but survived to defeat Los Angeles for the first time in nine meetings.

The Kings had won only 10 games all season before stunning the Lakers on their home court.

Sacramento had a 14-point lead heading into the fourth quarter but suffered through a scoring drought that began with 6:50 to play and Los Angeles closed within three.

Los Angeles then went without a point for 2 minutes while the Kings were making enough free throws to fight off the Lakers.

Cousins scored 27 points and the Kings outscored Los Angeles over the second and third periods 55-38. Omri Casspi added 20 for Sacramento.

Bryant made 13-of-27 shots from the field and 10-of-12 from the line. Shannon Brown added 17 for the Lakers.
