NBA: Miami 88, Detroit 87

MIAMI, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Two free throws by Eddie House with 6.5 seconds to play Friday gave the injury-riddled Miami Heat an 88-87 victory over Detroit.

With Dwyane Wade (wrist) and Chris Bosh (ankle) out of action, Miami still managed to survive a close contest and win for only the second time in seven games.

Detroit's Tayshaun Prince missed a jump shot that would have given Detroit a three-point lead with 25 seconds remaining and LeBron James claimed the rebound for the Heat. House tried to hit the game-winning shot from the field but he was fouled by Ben Gordon and House's ensuing free throws turned out to be the clinching points.

Austin Daye had a chance to give Detroit the victory but his attempt at a dunk off a lob inbounds pass just before the buzzer rattled out.

James scored 39 points to go with nine assists and eight rebounds.

Gordon paced the Pistons with 21 points. Detroit has lost four out of six.
