LOS ANGELES, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Jonathan Quick posted his fifth shutout of the season Monday, backstopping the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-0 victory over Boston.
Quick withstood three Boston power plays and turned aside all 34 shots he saw, including 14 in the third period, as the struggling Kings won a second consecutive game for the first time since late December.
Ryan Smyth scored on a power play -- the Kings' first man-advantage goal in seven games -- and Andrei Loktionov also tallied for Los Angeles.
Tim Thomas, named the NHL's No. 1 star for last week, absorbed the loss for Boston despite stopping 32-of-34 shots.
The Bruins learned before the game that center Marc Savard would be out indefinitely after sustaining his second concussion in 10 months.
