NHL: Buffalo 3, Ottawa 2 (OT)

OTTAWA, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- An overtime goal by Shaone Morrisonn Tuesday lifted the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators.

The goal at 1:59 in extra time was Morrisonn's first of the season. It came on a rebound that got between the legs of Ottawa goaltender Brian Elliott, who notched 23 saves.

Paul Byron and Jochen Hecht scored in regulation for the Sabres, who have won four of their last five games. Ryan Miller made 27 saves.

Chris Kelly and Sergei Gonchar tallied Ottawa's goals in regulation. Gonchar's goal at 13:56 of the third period tied the contest, which had seen Buffalo take a 2-0 lead in the first period.

The Sabres unsuccessfully protested Gonchar's goal, claiming Miller had been illegally knocked down and was not given a chance to make a save.
