Jenkins, 22, was charged with misdemeanor possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and was given a notice to appear in court Feb. 17.

Jenkins recently decided to return to the university for his senior season despite being a potential first-round NFL draft pick.

"We are aware of the incident with Janoris Jenkins and will handle it internally at this time," Florida Gators head football coach Will Muschamp said in a statement.

Jenkins was arrested in May 2009 and charged with affray and resisting arrest without violence after being involved in a fight.

The affray charge was dropped and Jenkins signed a deferred prosecution agreement on the other charge, the Times-Union reported.
