COL BKB: Notre Dame 56, Pittsburgh 51

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Notre Dame's Ben Hansbrough scored 11 of his 19 points in the final 8 minutes Monday and the No. 14 Fighting Irish upended second-ranked Pittsburgh 56-51.

Hansbrough got hot down the stretch, finishing the Big East battle 8-of-14 from the field and handing off seven assists for the Irish (17-4, 6-3 Big East), who collected their first conference road win and broke Pitt's nine-game winning streak.

Carleton Scott added 16 points, going 5-of-6 from 3-point territory and grabbed nine rebounds while Scott Martin came off the bench to score 10 points for Notre Dame.

Gilbert Brown put in 13 points and collected six boards for the Panthers (19-2, 7-1 Big East), who were held to 40 percent shooting from the field.
