Vonn wins another World Cup super G

CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- American Lindsey Vonn won her second World Cup skiing event in three days Sunday with a first place in the women's super G at Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

Vonn won a narrow victory over Germany's Maria Riesch in the second super G race of the weekend with fellow American Julia Mancuso coming in fourth behind Lara Gut of Switzerland.

"Our whole team is skiing incredibly well," said Vonn, who won Friday's first super G and took second in the downhill Saturday. "We are showing a lot of depth. I think we're feeding off each other and give each other confidence."

Vonn, who is a close second to Riesch in the overall points standings, clocked a 1 minute, 22.64 seconds, a whisker faster than the German's 1:22.69.
