VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Alex Tanguay's goal in the third round of a shootout Saturday handed the Calgary Flames a 4-3 decision over Vancouver.
Calgary's Rene Borque scored earlier in the shootout, answering a tally by the Canucks' Jeff Tamebellini. After Mikka Kirprusoff stopped Ryan Kesler in the third round of the tiebreaker, Tanguay beat Roberto Luongo for the game-winner.
Brendan Morrison, Curtis Glencross and Tim Jackman each scored in regulation and Kiprusoff made 41 saves for the Flames, who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Canucks.
Alexander Edler scored twice and Kesler tallied midway through the third period to forge a tie for Vancouver, which dropped to 1-2-3 in its last six games.
Luongo turned aside 30-of-33 shots for the Canucks.
