NHL: New York Rangers 7, Toronto 0

NEW YORK, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Marian Gaborik scored four times in an offensive onslaught Wednesday that carried the New York Rangers to a 7-0 blasting of Toronto.

Gaborik had not scored a goal in eight games and had managed only 11 for the season, a drought that had come one season after he equaled a career high with 42 goals.

He ended that slump by scoring two of New York's four first-period goals and then producing two more tallies just 29 seconds apart in the middle period. It was the 13th hat trick of Gaborik's career and he came up one goal short of tying the most he has ever produced in a single game.

Artem Anisimov had four assists and Sean Avery had three for the Rangers, who had lost three of their previous four outings.

Henrik Lundqvist got the shutout, his seventh of the season, by stopping 22 shots. The Rangers had managed only eight goals in their last five games.

Toronto's Jonas Gustavsson gave up six goals on 25 shots before being replaced by Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
