COL BKB: Notre Dame 66, Cincinnati 58

SOUTH BEND, Ind., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Ben Hansbrough led all Notre Dame starters in double figures Wednesday and the No. 16 Fighting Irish held off a late charge for a 66-58 win over Cincinnati.

Cincinnati trailed by 17 midway through the second half but stormed back within six heading into the final minute of play. Hansbrough and Eric Atkins then made two free throws each for the Fighting Irish to put the game away.

Notre Dame (15-4, 4-3 Big East) ended a two-game skid and remained unbeaten in 12 home games this season.

Hansbrough and Tyrone Nash both had 13 points and Tim Abromaitis scored 12 for Notre Dame. Scott Martin and Atkins had 11 each.

Notre Dame held Cincinnati to 19 points in the first half. The Bearcats shot just 38 percent from the field and they went to the foul line only eight times.

Sean Kilpatrick scored 16 points for Cincinnati (16-3, 3-3). The Bearcats began the campaign with 15 straight victories, but have lost three out of four since then.
