NHL: Philadelphia 3, Washington 2 (OT)

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Andrej Meszaros found the net 1:07 into overtime Tuesday and the Philadelphia Flyers took their third straight win with a 3-2 decision over Washington.

Jeff Carter scored a goal for the fourth straight game and Claude Giroux also scored as the Eastern Conference-leading Flyers improved to 7-1-0 in January.

Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 23 shots for the victors.

The Caps got goals from Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble. Semyon Varlamov made 20 saves on 22 shots in relief of Michal Neuvirth as Washington fell to 1-2-2 in its last five games.
