NHL: Dallas 2, Los Angeles 1

DALLAS, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Kari Lehtonen made 22 saves and stopped a penalty shot in the final minute Monday to preserve the Dallas Stars' 2-1 victory over Los Angeles.

The Kings were scrambling for the tying goal in front of the Dallas net when the officials ruled that Stars defenseman Jeff Woywitka closed his hand over the disc as it was balancing precariously on the goal line, resulting in a Kings penalty shot.

But Lehtonen made an acrobatic save on Jack Johnson and Pacific Division-leading Dallas held on to win their fourth straight game.

Loui Eriksson scored and Jamie Langenbrunner -- who returned to Dallas last week in a trade with New Jersey -- scored his first goal as a Star in nine years.

Justin Williams got the Kings' only goal and Jonathan Bernier turned aside 25-of-27 shots for Los Angeles.
