Wilson holds off Marino for Sony Open win

HONOLULU, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- Mark Wilson notched his third career PGA tour win Sunday, firing a 3-under-par 67 in the final round to take the Sony Open in Hawaii by two strokes.

Wilson finished with a 16-under 264, holding off Steve Marino as he completed a 36-hole marathon necessitated by a rain-out during the tourney's scheduled first round Thursday at Waialae Country Club.

Marino challenged down the stretch but missed a chance to register an eagle on the 18th that could have pulled to him to 15-under when he two-putted for a birdie.

Instead, he finished with a 6-under 64 that left him two shots back at minus-14 where he shared second place with Tim Clark (64).

Jimmy Walker (67) grabbed sole possession of fourth place at 13-under 267. Matt Bettencourt (67) and Matt Kuchar (69) finished knotted in fifth place one shot further back at minus-12.
