WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Daniel Sedin scored twice Friday, one of his goals being the game-winner late in the second period, boosting Vancouver to a 4-2 victory over Washington.
The Canucks bounced back from their first regulation loss in 18 games Thursday to improve their NHL-leading point total to 64. They are one win away from becoming the first team in the league to reach 30 this season.
Christian Ehrhoff put Vancouver in front to stay at 2-1 with a power-play goal coming 3:46 into the second period. Sedin added to the lead with 4:01 to go in the second.
Marcus Johansson brought the Capitals within one midway through the third, but Sedin wrapped things up with an empty-net goal in the final minute of play.
Sedin has 27 goals for the season, putting him in third place behind Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos.
Roberto Luongo got the win with 25 saves. Semyon Varlamov surrendered three goals on 34 shots.
