MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Kevin Love scored 35 points Thursday and hit a 3-pointer during a game-closing 19-5 run that brought the Minnesota Timberwolves a 109-97 win over Washington.
The Wizards had a 92-90 lead with 5:47 to play but could not hold on and failed to pick up what would have been their first road win of the season. Washington has a 10-8 record at home, but has gone 0-19 on the road.
Love hit 13-of-18 shots from the field and claimed 11 rebounds in helping the Timberwolves halt a five-game losing streak.
Luke Ridnour added 16 points and Darko Milicic had 14 to go with 11 rebounds. Minnesota made 12-of-20 shots from 3-point range, five of those coming from Love.
Washington was led by 19 points from Rashard Lewis and 18 from Kirk Hinrich.
