Tulsa's Graham takes Pitt coaching job

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Tulsa's Todd Graham will take over as University of Pittsburgh head football coach following the firing of Michael Haywood, school officials said Monday.

Haywood was let go Jan. 1 after being charged with domestic violence in Indiana -- less than a month after he was tapped to replace the resigning Dave Wannstedt.

Pitt Athletic Director Steve Pederson said Graham "has a proven track record of success at all levels of football and his wealth of experience on both sides of the ball gives him a unique set of credentials."

Graham, 46, led Tulsa to a 36-17 record during four seasons there. He returned to the team after leading Rice to a 7-6 season in 2006, and before that served as an assistant head coach with Tulsa for three years and a defensive coach at West Virginia for two.
