Stricker, Byrd, Garrigus share TOC lead

LAHAINA, Hawaii, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Steve Stricker, Jonathan Byrd and Robert Garrigus finished Saturday's third round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in a three-way tie for the lead.

Stricker shot an 8-under-par 65, second-round leader Garrigus fired a 69 and first-round co-leader Byrd registered a 67 Saturday. That put all three at 18-under 201 for 54 holes.

The trio were three shots ahead of Carl Pettersson, who had sole possession of fourth place at minus-15 after shooting a 2-under 71 Saturday on the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort.

Matt Kuchar (66) was alone in fifth place one shot further back.

Four of the top five are Americans, making it likely that a player from the host country will win the event for the first time since Jim Furyk did so in 2001.
