ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Jason Richardson and Brandon Bass both scored five points during a 17-0 run in the third period Friday that lifted Orlando to a 110-95 win over Houston.
The Magic won their eighth straight game, shooting 73 percent from the field the during the third period while outscoring Houston by 18 points in the quarter.
Richardson and Bass scored 18 points each and combined to make 15-of-20 shots from the field. Ryan Anderson added 16 points for Orlando, all of them coming in the second half, and Dwight Howard had 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Orlando owned a 57-55 lead when it embarked on its big run that spanned almost 5 minutes of the third period.
Houston had an 11-4 record in December but has lost four in a row in the new year. Houston was led by Kevin Martin with 27 points.
