COL BKB: Purdue 83, Penn State 68

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Ryne Smith went 5-of-5 from 3-point range and scored a career-best 20 points Wednesday in leading No. 10 Purdue to an 83-68 victory over Penn State.

The Boilermakers pulled away in the second half to their 10th consecutive road win after owning only a four-point lead at the break.

Lewis Jackson added 17 points for Purdue and JaJuan Johnson had 15 points to go with 15 rebounds.

Purdue is unbeaten in three Big Ten Conference games and improved to 14-1 for the season. The lone loss for the Boilermakers came Nov. 27 against Richmond.

Penn State (8-6, 1-2) got 18 points each from Talor Battle and Jermaine Marshall. The Nittany Lions have lost four of their last five. This was the first of five straight games for Penn State against teams currently ranked among the Top 25.
