BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Tyler Ennis scored the decisive shootout goal and Drew Stafford had a hat trick Saturday in the Buffalo Sabres' wild 7-6 victory over Boston.
Ennis, Stafford and Thomas Vanek all bested Tim Thomas in the shootout and Ryan Miller turned aside Zdeno Chara's last-gasp try in the final round.
The Sabres won back-to-back games for the first time since early December.
Stafford's third tally of the game came with only 28 seconds remaining in regulation and boosted Buffalo into a 6-6 tie.
Jason Pominville scored twice and added a pair of assists, and Vanek chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who got a 34-save performance from Miller.
Tyler Seguin and Chara notched a goal and assist each for Boston. Andrew Ference, Steve Kampfer, Brad Marchand and Dennis Seidenberg also tallied for the Bruins.
Thomas stopped 16-of-19 shots after replacing Tuukka Rask, who was pulled after the first period, during which he allowed three goals on 16 shots.
