COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Jakub Voracek battled through two defenders to score with 2:54 left in overtime Friday, lifting the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win over Ottawa.
The Blue Jackets let a 3-0 lead get away but Voracek rescued them with a single-handed effort.
He collected the puck behind the net while fighting off the two Senators, skated into the slot and then put a shot through the pads of Brian Elliott. It was his seventh goal of the season.
Voracek also assisted on a first-period goal by R.J. Umberger. Samuel Pahlsson and Rick Nash scored for Columbus in the second.
Mike Fisher began the Ottawa comeback with 1:03 left in the second, Nick Foligno brought the Senators within one 1:18 into the third and Daniel Alfredsson tied it with 1:11 remaining in regulation.
Steve Mason had 35 saves in the third straight win for Columbus. Elliott gave up four goals on 23 shots.
