COL FB: Central Florida 10, Georgia 6

MEMPHIS, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Latavius Murray scored the game's only touchdown Friday and Central Florida made school history by surprising Georgia 10-6 in the Liberty Bowl.

The Knights won a bowl game for the first time and also recorded their first 11-victory season.

Georgia marched from its own 20 to the Central Florida 38 in the final minutes before a fourth-down pass from Aaron Murray fell incomplete to end the game.

The Bulldogs held a 6-3 lead going into the fourth period, but quarterback Jeff Godfrey led the Knights on a 61-yard, 11-play drive that took 5:53 off the clock. The march ended with Murray's 10-yard touchdown run that came with 9 minutes to play.

Georgia's points came on field goals of 20 and 41 yards from Blair Walsh. Nick Cattoi kicked a 22-yard field goal in the second period for Central Florida, which played in its fourth bowl game.

Murray ran for 104 yards on 18 carries while Godfrey completed 16-of-29 passes for 117 yards and two interceptions.

Central Florida, champion of Conference USA, finished the season at 11-3. Despite reaching a bowl game, Georgia closed with a losing record at 6-7.

Murray was good on 21-of-38 passes for 198 yards and was intercepted twice. The Bulldogs played in a bowl game for the 46th time.

Of the 11 major college leagues, Conference USA was the first to complete its bowl schedule. It wound up with a 2-4 record, its other victory coming in Tulsa's 62-35 smashing of Hawaii.
