DALLAS, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- The NFL Dallas Cowboys Tuesday signed Arena Football League quarterback Chris Greisen to its practice squad.
Greisen won the 2010 AFL Offensive Player of the Year honors and led the Florida Tuskers to a United Football League championship.
"Chris has been a good quarterback at every level he has played," Cowboys Director of Pro Scouting Will McClay said. "He has displayed a high level of success through his collegiate career to be a draft pick in the NFL, through his AFL career, and most recently, in the UFL. He is a smart player that should be able to grasp the offense if he is needed."
Greisen ended the 2010 AFL season with the Milwaukee Iron with a team-high 5,156 offensive yards, 5,146 total passing yards and a .679 pass efficiency rating.
He spent five seasons with the AFL, two in the UFL, one in the af2 and one in the NFL Europe.
Arizona drafted him in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL draft and he played for the Cardinals from 1999 to 2001, completing 7 of 16 passes for 69 yards and one touchdown. He was released in 2002 after training camp and signed with the Washington Redskins.
