NHL: Ottawa 3, Pittsburgh 1

OTTAWA, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Erik Karlsson scored two goals and Brian Elliott made 44 saves Sunday in the Ottawa Senators' 3-1 victory over Pittsburgh.

Mike Fisher put the Senators ahead to stay with a power play goal 9:14 into the first frame and Karlsson made it 2-0 with a shot from the right point less than 5 minutes later.

He gave Ottawa a commanding three-goal lead with another slapshot from the point in the second period, this one during an Ottawa power play, and Elliott turned aside 22 shots in the middle frame alone to record the win.

The Senators goalie was set to record a shutout but Sidney Crosby scored late to extend his points streak to 24 games, the NHL's longest since Mats Sundin's 30-game streak during in 1992-93 season for Quebec.

Marc-Andre Fleury let in all three goals on 24 shots for the Penguins.
