Nolasco signs 3-year deal with Marlins

MIAMI, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- Pitcher Ricky Nolasco, on the Florida Marlins' injured list since August, signed a contract with the team Friday paying him $26.5 million over three years.

The deal gives Nolasco a healthy raise, The Palm Beach Post reported. He was paid $3.87 million in 2010, which will rise to $6 million in 2011, $9 million in 2012 and $11.5 million in the final year.

Nolasco last played Aug. 28. In mid-September, he had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

He said he is looking forward to spring training.

"Every year I'm eager to get out there, but I think this year is going to be something a little bit more, since I've been out a little bit longer," Nolasco said.

Nolasco made 26 starts this year for the Marlins, with a 14-9 record and a .451 ERA. So far in his career, he has had 54 wins and 39 losses.
