COL BKB: Pittsburgh 61, American 46

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Brad Wanamaker produced 19 points Wednesday and helped Coach Jamie Dixon to his 200th career win in No. 6 Pittsburgh's 61-46 decision over American.

The Panthers held the Eagles without a point for a 6-minute stretch of the first half and extended its home winning streak against non-conference opponents to 56 games.

Dixon, who is in his eighth year as coach of the Panthers, tied the NCAA Division 1 record for fewest number of games needed to get to 200 wins. He matched Mark Few of Gonzaga and Roy Williams of North Carolina. Williams began his head coaching career at Kansas.

Pittsburgh advanced to 12-1 with Gilbert Brown scoring 15 points and Ashton Gibbs 10. It was the last non-conference game of the season for the Panthers, who begin Big East Conference play on Monday against Connecticut.

American (7-5) was led by Vlad Moldovenau with 23 points.
