NEW YORK, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Colorado center Matt Duchene and teammate Tomas Fleischmann took two of the three NHL weekly awards, the league said Monday.

Each week the NHL selects three stars of the week. Duchene and Fleischmann were joined by Carolina's Eric Staal for honors for games played Dec. 13-19.

Colorado moved to the top of the Northwest Division in a week in which Duchene and Fleischmann combined for eight goals and six assists in four games. The Avalanche have won six consecutive games.

Duchene had two game-winning goals, including one in overtime Friday to beat Ottawa. Fleischmann, who joined Colorado Nov. 30 after a trade with Washington, got his first hat trick with three goals in the third period of a 4-3 win Wednesday at Chicago.

Staal had four goals last week. Three of those came when he recorded his 12th career hat trick.
