NEWARK, N.J., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Anders Lindback needed to make just 15 saves while winning his fifth straight start Friday, carrying the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 victory over New Jersey.
Lindback, who has seen more ice time while regular goaltender Pekka Rinne recovers from an injury, improved his record to 9-1-2. Lindback appeared headed for a shutout until Mattias Tedenby scored a power-play goal 7:06 into the third period.
Martin Erat produced two goals, both on the power play, and Steve Sullivan tipped in a shot for the Predators with 17 seconds remaining in the first period to open the scoring.
New Jersey lost for the sixth time in seven games. The loss went to Martin Brodeur, who gave up three goals on 20 shots.
Nashville won in New Jersey for the first time in four seasons. It was the 23rd time in 31 games this season that the Devils had been held to two goals or fewer.
