SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Brad Richards scored in the second round of a shootout Monday, boosting the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 decision over San Jose.
After the Stars' Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski of San Jose notched goals in the shootout, Richards gave Dallas the advantage when he faked Antti Niemi out of the net and put a forehand shot past him.
Andrew Raycroft then sealed the win by stopping Ryane Clowe on the Sharks' final shot, ending the contest with 31 saves on 33 San Jose attempts.
Benn and Mike Ribeiro also scored as Dallas raised its record in overtime games to 7-2.
Derek Joslin got his first career goal and Clowe added his ninth of the season for the Sharks, who lost for just the second time in five games.
Niemi stopped 29-of-31 shots.
