COL FB: Navy 31, Army 17

PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Ricky Dobbs threw two touchdown passes Saturday and Navy defeated Army for the ninth straight time in their annual showdown, 31-17 in Philadelphia.

Dobbs engineered the victory despite turning the ball over four times for the Midshipmen (9-3), completing 6-of-11 passes for 186 yards and an interception and also carrying the ball 20 times for 54 yards.

John Howell and Brandon Turner were on the receiving end of Dobbs's TD tosses for Navy, which will go for a school record in victories when they face San Diego State in the Dec. 23 Poinsettia Bowl.

The Black Knights (6-6) were led by Trent Steelman, who connected on 11-of-20 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 73 yards on 19 carries.

Army, which now goes on to the Dec. 30 Armed Forces Bowl against Southern Methodist, also got 59 yards on three receptions from Malcolm Brown.
