Libby Smith leads LPGA qualifying

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Libby Smith shot a 3-under 69 Thursday that gave her a two-shot lead after two rounds of the LPGA Tour's Qualifying Tournament.

Smith played the LPGA Internatonal's Legends course, one of two being used for the event. The top 20 players at the end of the five-day tournament will earn fully exempt status on the circuit for 2011.

Smith, a seven-year tour veteran, was a co-leader after the opening round and completed 36 holes at 8-under 136.

Pornanong Phatlum shot a 6-under 66 on the Champions course and moved into a tie for second at 138 with Jimin Jeong.

Aree Song and Reilley Rankin had been tied for the lead with Smith after Wednesday's round. Song shot a 72 on the Champions course Thursday and was in fourth place at 139. Rankin posted a 73 and was tied for fifth at 140.

Jessica Korda, one of seven amateurs in the field, was tied for 13th at even-par 144.
